2020 Graduate Spotlight: Kaelin McGrath
The College Fund of Pinellas County, Inc. would like to highlight our scholarship recipients who are doing amazing things in the classroom, on their campuses, and in the community!
We are so excited to present our very first student spotlight! Meet Kaelin MaGrath!
Kaelin graduated from the University of Florida in May 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences. Kaelin is currently taking a gap year (or two) before applying to Physician Assistant school. She is working on getting direct patient care hours by working as a medical assistant at a primary care office and part-time as a CNA at a rehab hospital.
While in undergrad, Kaelin discovered that a deep passion of hers is using lifestyle choices to live a healthy lifestyle. To follow that passion, she interned with a doctor who focuses on functional integrative medicine. They use more lifestyle choices to reverse diseases rather than prescribing medication, which she love. She also volunteered at a greenhouse on campus called Willow Gardens which was designed to introduce horticultural therapy to UF and the community.
Kaelin says: "This scholarship was tremendously helpful to me throughout my college career. Not only did this give me financial stability, but I always knew that the College Board was there in support of me throughout my journey. By far, the best thing about being a recipient of this scholarship is the dedication of the board members. I remember being so nervous in the interview because I was sitting in front of maybe 15 people. But all they wanted to do was talk to me and get to know me which made it much less intimidating. The board members give unconditional support to each recipient and truly care about their success.”
Congratulations Kaelin on all you’ve accomplished thus far. This is just the beginning!
